We are now a BSAC branch

After long last on the 21st of January 2021, the STCSAC achieved yet another milestone and a dream come true to our founder instructors and members by becoming the 1st BSAC branch in Sri Lanka.

When the Club was inaugurated in 1993, it was introduced to a BSAC, military grade training programme, strict rules and valued traditions through BSAC 2nd Class, SLSAC DO, Dr Malik Fernando. It was however not possible to get branch status due to the cost factor and therefore not possible to offer BSAC qualifications to our members.

PADI certification on the other hand was easily achievable through a PADI Instructor. Dr Ranjith de Silva a BSAC Club Instructor/PADI Instructor, would certify a student "PADI open water diver" on successfully completing a custom built BSAC/PADI hybrid programme.

Now that we are a BSAC branch, we have the ability to offer BSAC qualifications to our members come dive season Oct 2021.

We have at present thirty two BSAC members on board and climbing with many more showing interest in joining BSAC to being certified or progressing in BSAC qualifications through us.
